How to Use AceThinker Video Editor

AceThinker Video Editor is an easy-to-use but powerful video editing software that lets you create customized eye-catching videos from photos and videos. Download & Install & Register & Activate AceThinker Video Editor

1. Download and Install AceThinker Video Editor

If you don’t have AceThinker Video Editor yet, now click the "Download" button provided below to get the Windows or Mac version depending on the system you're using. After downloading, follow the setup wizard to install the software completely on your computer.

2. Register AceThinker Video Editor

After successful installation, launch it to access its interface. Once you access the main interface, click the "Account" icon which can be found at the top-right corner.

As you see, you can directly login using Google, Facebook, or Twitter accounts. Or you can click Sign up to enter the account information like your e-mail address and personalized password. After you entered the info, click the "Get" button to send the verification code to your e-mail. Next, check your e-mail then copy the verification code sent by AceThinker and go back to the window and click "Sign up" to register the account.

3. Activate VIP Account

If you want to enjoy the full features of AceThinker Video Editor, you will need to upgrade to VIP. Go to your account and click Upgrade to VIP to open the pricing plan page. Choose the plan you want and purchase it. A license code will be sent to your e-mail after you paid. Get the license code there then go back to your account and hit "Activate VIP." Paste the license code into the field provided and hit "OK" to unlock all the premium features of AceThinker Video Editor without any limits.

Navigate the Interface of AceThinker Video Editor

1. Select the Editing Modes

Launch AceThinker Video Editor and you will see the interface as below. There are 7 modes for you to choose from: 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 1:1, 6:7 and 21:9. You can choose one mode according to your video aspect ratio or the platform where you want to share the edited video.

Also, you can click New Project to start a new editing project or select Open Project to load a draft project you have edited earlier.

2. Feature Introduction

7 Tabs: After you enter the editing interface, you will see many tabs where you can add media, music, texts, transitions, filters, overlays and elements.

Real-time Preview Window: There is a built-in player on the right that allows you to view the media files to make sure it's what you need.

Toolbar: From the left part of the tool, there is a toolbar that provides easy access to a lot of editing functions like edit, split, crop, etc.

  • Undo: Cancel the last editing function you have done.
  • Redo: Restore the last editing that has been applied to the media file.
  • Edit: Edit the video by changing speed, rotating, flipping, adjusting video volume, setting fade in/out effects, etc.
  • Split: Split the video into multiple smaller parts.
  • Delete: Delete video, filters, music, images, texts, overlays, transitions, etc.
  • Subtitle: Insert subtitles into the video and edit its style as you want.
  • Crop: Drag to crop the video screen size with aspect ratio kept or not.
  • Zoom: Zoom to fit the timeline or zoom in/out to increase/decrease the length of the entire media content in the timeline.
  • Mosaic: Add different types of mosaic effects to the video with customized settings.
  • Freeze: Freeze the frame and extend its duration to show a specific moment in your video.
  • Duration: Click Duration to set the lasting time for effects like transitions, filters, overlays, etc.
  • Dubbing: Add a custom voiceover from your microphone via recording.
  • Chroma cutout: Select Chrome cutout to cut the green parts of the video/image.
  • Color Correction: Adjust the contrast, saturation, brightness, shadow, etc. of videos/images to get the best overall looking.
  • Export: Click Export to save the media file you have edited for further editing or sharing.

Timeline: The Timeline is where you can edit all the media files and effects. Generally, there are 5 tracks in the timeline.

  • Video: In the Video track, you can add videos, images, and elements for editing. You can click Mute to remove the sound from the video or click Lock to prevent the media to be edited.
  • PIP: The same as the Video track, you can also add videos, images and elements in the PIP track. You can drag media files to insert the picture-in-picture effect in different parts.
  • Text: You can insert and edit subtitles/texts in this track.
  • Audio: Add background music to the whole video project in the Audio track.
  • Voiceover: The Voiceover track will show the recorded audio file and you can click it to edit the audio like adjusting speed, setting fade in/out effects, changing sound, etc.

Besides, when you add filter and overlay effects, the Filter and Overlay tracks will be displayed, letting you edit the filters and overlays if needed.

Import Media

AceThinker Video Editor allows you to import video, audio, images and subtitles in different formats for video editing. All the added media files will be displayed in the media library so that you can get access to them quickly. There are 3 ways to import files to AceThinker Video Editor.

Method 1. Click File > Import to import files or folders to this video editing software.

Method 2. Double click the media area and select one or multiple files to load from the pop-up window.

. Simply drag and drop the media files you want to add to the Media area to add them.

How to Edit Videos

After you import the media files to AceThinker Video Editor. Now it's time to edit your media files using the rich editing features.

To start editing the video, upload the video you want to edit to the media library and then drag the uploaded video to the Timeline pane to start editing the video.

To delete a video clip from the timeline, right-click the video and select Delete to remove it from the video track. Or you can simply click the Delete icon on the toolbar.

Split Video

You can simply move the playhead to the position where you want to split the video clip and click the Split icon on the toolbar to cut the video immediately. Similarly, you can also place the playhead at the place you want to split the clip and right-click to select Split to get it done.

Trim Video

To trim a video, you only need to move the mouse over the edge of the video. When the double arrow appears, move it left or right to trim the video and get the wanted part only.

If you want to trim the middle part of the video, you will have to split the video and then delete the unwanted portion.

Rotate/Reverse/Speed Video

Double click the video clip in the timeline, right-click the video and select Edit, or select the video and click the Edit icon from the toolbar to open the video edit window.

You can then rotate video, change video speed, reverse video, change background color, adjust audio volume, etc. freely as you need.

Crop Video

Select the video in the timeline and click the Crop icon on the toolbar or right-click the clip and select Crop to enter the video crop window.

In the pop-up window, you can drag and adjust the rectangle to change the screen size of the video.

Join Video

If you want to merge multiple videos into one, you can simply drag them into the timeline in sequence. The video clips will be combined after you export the video project.

Enhance Video

You can enhance your video clips by adjusting the contrast, saturation, brightness, highlight, etc. To do that, simply click the Color Correction icon on the toolbar and configure the parameters in the pop-up window.

Remove Audio from Video

Right-click the video from the timeline and select Mute to remove sound from the video. If you want to add other audio tracks to the video, simply drag the music/audio file to the audio track.

Add Mosaic to Video

Right-click a video clip in the timeline and select Mosaic or click the Mosaic icon from the toolbar to access the Mosaic window, where you can add mosaics by dragging the yellow rectangle to blur a certain part of the video. Just note that the mosaic will appear from the beginning of the video to the end.

Find the Text style you like in the Text tab and drag it to the timeline or click the + icon to apply it directly.

Next, select the Text and move the mouse over the edge of it to set the position and time. You can also edit the text fond, type, color, opacity, stroke, etc. to customize it.

Add Transition to Video

Go to Transitions and find a transition you like to add between videos or images in your project. Drag it or right-click it and select Add to Project to apply the transition effect and it will be shown in the timeline. And you can then change the duration of the transition as you want. As you can see, you can choose to "Apply random transition" to add transitions randomly between all video and image clips. If you like a specific transition very much, you can select "Apply to all" to apply the same transition effect between all media files.

AceThinker Video Editor allows you to add filters to the video for a better overall look as you want. Open your project, go to the Filters tab and select the filter effect you like. You can click the plus icon, drag it to the timeline, or right-click the filter and click Add to Project to apply the filter. From the Timeline, you can then set the duration of the filter effect.

Choose the overlay you like and drag it to the timeline. Or you can click the + icon to apply the overlay effect to your video. In the timeline, you will be able to set the position and duration of the overlay effect.

Find the Element style you prefer and download it. Drag it to the timeline to apply it to the project: you can drag it either to the Video track or the PIP track. Generally, the Element effect will be set as the intro of the video if it's put in the Video track. If it's used in the PIP track, then it will display an animation effect on the video/image. You can crop, zoom, add mosaic to the Element effect just like editing a video.

How to Edit Audio Files

AceThinker Video Editor lets you edit your audio files in many ways. Check the following guide to learn how to edit audio tracks without hassles.

AceThinker Video Editor provides a music library for you to add background music to your video. Or you can import your own music if you like. Go to the Music tab and find the music you want and drag it to the timeline to apply the music.

If you want to add your own narration to the video, you can use the Dubbing function from the toolbar to add voiceover recording. When you're ready, click the Dubbing icon to start recording your voice from the microphone immediately. The recorded audio file will be shown in the Voiceover track and you can then edit it to adjust the speed, volume, etc.

Merge Audio

It's very easy to combine and merge audio clips as you only need to add them to the timeline in sequence as you need. When you export the audio file, all the clips will be merged into 1 file.

Split Audio

In the timeline, move the playhead to the place where you want to split the audio track and click the Split button from the toolbar to cut it. Or you can right-click the audio clip and select Split.

Trim Audio

Select the audio clip in the timeline and you will see a yellow border. Move the mouse over the border edge and you can press and hold the left mouse button to trim unwanted parts of the audio. The same as trimming videos, if you want to cut a middle part, you will need to split the audio file and then delete the undesired sections.

Change Audio Speed/Volume

Double click the audio track or right-click it and select Edit to adjust the audio speed from 0.1x to 50x. You can also increase or decrease the audio volume.

Fade Audio In or Out

In the audio adjustment panel, you can also apply the audio fade-in and fade-out effects.

If you want to extract audio from video, you can simply right-click the video clip in the timeline from the Video track and select Audio Detach from the list. In this way, the audio track will be detached and shown in the Audio track.

How to Edit Images

AceThinker Video Editor offers various image editing tools for you to enhance your images and video project instantly. Read the guide below to learn how to create a photo slideshow and edit your images.

AceThinker allows you to combine videos and photos to create a stunning video. To add photos, simply drag them from the Media library to the Video track. If you want to insert the images into the middle of a video, you will need to split the video first.

The default duration of an added image is 4 seconds. You can select the image in the timeline and click the Duration icon from the toolbar to set the time longer or shorter.

Select the picture and click Color Correction from the toolbar to adjust the image contrast, saturation, brightness, shadow and more to make the picture looks much better.

Rotate Image

Double click the image or right-click it and choose Edit to rotate images 90 clockwise and counterclockwise or flip images horizontally or vertically. You can also set the image motion and mask effect.

Right-click an image and choose Crop or click the Crop icon from the toolbar to drag the yellow rectangle to crop images. You can remove unwanted black bars or focus on the center via cropping.

Export the Finish Video

When you finish editing the video or you want to edit it later, you can save the project in the following ways.

1. Export as Project

If you want to edit the video further later, you can save the edited video as a project so that next time you can directly open it and continue the editing. Simply click File > Save or Save as to export the media as a project.

2. Export as Video

If you have finished the editing and want to save the final video, then you can click Export to save the edited video in MP4, AVI, WMV, MKV, etc. according to your needs. Rename the file and choose an output folder to save it. If needed, you can also change the video parameters like resolution, frame rate, bit rate, encoder, etc. and set a video cover. When all settings are done, click Export to save the video to your computer.

3. Export as Audio

You're also free to save the edited media to only audio in MP3 or AAC format. The same as exporting video files, you can also configure the audio name, destination folder and change the parameters like encoder, sample rate, bitrate, etc.

4. Export as Subtitle

With the Subtitle option, you can choose to save the edited file to subtitle files in SRT, TXT or ASS format. After that, you can insert the subtitles to other videos if needed.
